To Do Lists

Ok, so I have never ever been a fan of goals. I mean really goals to me were just something you could fail at. So if you don't make yourself have any expectations then your life was just easy. That was my thoughts as a child and teenager. Honestly, I think that I am just now, at 30 years old, understanding the importance of goals. There is a reason we make goals and to do lists. To make sure that we accomplish what we have set out for ourselves. Your goal may be just to get through that to do list or it might be to clean the bathroom or a bigger goal of losing a ton of weight. Well, what prompted this epiphany? Work! The last 3 weeks or so I have felt so lost. I felt like I was dropping balls all over the place. I am a supervisor at a health insurance company and I have 20 or so direct reports. I felt like I was failing everyone... myself, my employees, and my boss. Well, I decided that I needed a to do list and make a goal to get through that to do list this week. Funny thing, I already have one. We all created one at work to help make sure that we remembered everything we have to do. So I pull it out. I start checking stuff off. It is now Thursday and I feel like a HUGE weight has been lifted off of me. I have managed to get through just about everything on my list and I still have tomorrow to go. I am going to meet my goal. What an amazing feeling.

Friendship

So it has been a while since I blogged. I don't really have much going on so I didn't feel like I needed to bore anyone with all the details of my life. So lately I have been thinking a lot about the friends that come into our lives and then leave for whatever reason. The special place that each of those people have in my heart. How can we allow people who mean so much to us just drift away. I hope that someone out there feels the same way about me. I am one of those people who love and care about people in my life completely. Once I feel like you are part of my life I will very loyal to you. However, I think as I have gotten older I have allowed those special people to drift out of my life. Lately, this has made me sad. There are to many names to remember of those people that I grew up and have gone our separate ways. They have moved to other states, got jobs, got married, had kids basically we grew up. I am very grateful for facebook and myspace. Through these social networking sites I have been able to find some of these people and learn about their lives now. I hope that these people who still have that very special place in my heart for them know that I love and miss their friendship and the wonderful things they brought to my life. They are all responsible for me becoming the person I am. I think that is a good person, though I do have my faults. My number one flaw is allowing these wonderful friends to slip away from me. I love the friends I have and I would not trade any of them now. So thank you to everyone for every special and unforgettable moment you each had and have on my life.

This Weekend

So last week I had made some plans... Nothing really big, but some fun stuff to do. On Friday evening I was going to go get my nails done and then go to a movie with my friend, Cynthia. We were either going to see that new John Travolta movie or The Hangover. We were going to meet at the mall at 6:15.

Stacy

I then sent a text to my friend/family Stacy. She is some how related to my husband but to be honest I can't keep up with how. Their side of the family is so big it is really hard to keep up with. I meet Stacy while she was pregnant with her beautiful (old) son Ian. At first I don't think that she liked me very much. But some where down the line we became friends. She would have to tell you when she allowed me to be her friend. LOL! Gosh I think Ian is 13 now. Some of the best memories I have are with Stacy. She is beautiful, kind, loving, loyal, and truly one of the best friends I have ever had. Some how over the last few years we have drifted away. I tend to not know how to work all the time. So because of that I have lost connections with some of the greatest friends. Stacy is one of them... I had a baby then she had a baby and some how we don't even talk once a week. I am not sure why over the last couple of weeks all I do is think about her and miss her. Not only is she a wonderful friend, but family. And over all someone I want in my life forever! I love her, even though I don't pick up the phone all the time I hope that she knows how much she and her family means to me. I will forever be here for her. I will admit that I have been not been a great friend over the past few years... but I truly hope that she knows how much she means to me. Anyway, the reason that I brought all this up is because on my way home I remember that her son Konnor turned 2 on the 12th or 13th. I couldn't remember which day but I knew it was one of the two days. I sent her a text and I had planned to go see her on Saturday. The first time since October. I really miss her.

So back to my under the weather... I had plans this weekend. Well low and behold my throat starts to hurt. I think oh it's just allergies. No big deal. I get home and take a short nap before the movies. I wake up and can't swallow. What the heck? So I text Cynthia and canceled our nail appointment and the movies. By the way my nails still look terrible. Saturday I get up and can't even hold my head up. I had to cancel with Stacy. That made me saddest of all. I really wanted to she her and her family. Well, I stayed in bed all day. Then my husband gets to go to the baseball game and then went to Sparks to eat and drink. Well then he runs into friends that we grew up with but haven't seen for years. Except of course through the wonderful world of facebook. And were was I? Stuck at home sick. Sunday wasn't much better. I vegged all day. That wasn't a bad thing but just felt like crap the whole time. Monday, I get up... I have a meeting in Dallas. I have to go to work. I get there and I can't even make it through my first 9 am meeting. This is bad... We have a nurse practitioner on staff at our work. I know it's awesome right??? Well, what do I have? Double ear infection, sinus and upper respiratory infection. Great! 1 shot and a prescription of antibiotics later I am on my way back home! I slept for what seemed like forever. I actually feel better. Tomorrow will be better!

Bad Day

So I had a bad day. Why what happened you ask? Here it goes...

I woke up late!

Got in the car and realized I forgot my cell phone. Not to mention my cell phone is also my ipod. However, I didn't go back to get it, because I still have my ipod classic with me everywhere I go.

My son decided he didn't like his babysitter because she told him yesterday to be still. So I spent the 15 minutes to the babysitter explaining why Mommy and Daddy has to work. Also, explaining why sometimes you just have to be still.

Then my son got out of the car in a different way and threw off my morning routine of how I get him out of the car. That's OK though no big deal. I get him inside and situated and then the babysitter and I start talking about how I am trying to get Aidan to use other words than "I don't like you" when he is mad at you. She agreed! About five minutes later I leave and guess what??? I locked my keys in the car. OH wait I'm not done. It is running! With my purse inside.

So do I bust out a window? Call a lock smith?

I call my friend Cynthia at work and ask her to come get me to take me home to get my spare key. Because she is the best, she said yes. She gets me and we get to the house and I can't get the garage door to open. Great! I am standing outside praying to God to let me in. Finally, He comes through for me and the garage door opens. I stand there saying, "Thank you God!" Then I get to the garage door to the house and for the first time probably ever the freaking door is locked! OK, so now do I bust the window or again call a lock smith? What did I do? I broke in with a screw driver. We will probably need a new door now, but I got my keys and was back on my way to my back to my running car. Oh and while I was home I grabbed my phone.

I get back to the car and thank goodness it was still there purse inside and it didn't overheat or anything. It sat idling for about an hour or so... Managed to make it to work at about 10:00 AM. So much for getting anything done.

Tomorrow has to be a better day!

Lazy Sunday

So today is Sunday, and I chose thise to be my lazy day of the week. However, today has been a busy day... until now...

My husband, Dustin took our 4 year old, Aidan to see Up. My wonderful friend Alli came and brought her 2 beautiful children. Oh and Aidan's Aunt and Uncle came. It was a great movie! I don't think I realized that until I had a child how dark and sad Disney movies really are. I actually cried during one part of the movie. Weird! Aidan loved it which is the reason we even went. But I do have to complain just a little bit. The movie started at 11:00 am we all got there about 10:30 am... the doors were locked. Yes, LOCKED. Why on earth would you have a movie that starts at 11:00 am and not open the doors until 10:45 am. Jeez, we have kids... we need to buy the tickets, get the snacks, go to the bathroom, get situated in our seats and the theater gives us 15 minutes to do all of this... I don't understand! Ok, so I'm done ranting about that.

So, my husband found out on Friday that I have a blog. I never told him I guess. Not that it is that big of a deal. Then he made fun of the fact that I haven't written in almost a month. So I guess I need to get on the ball. I have found a lot of really great blogs to follow. This is fun. I'm not a great writer but it is fun reading about other people.

Officially, I am going back on phase 1 of my diet (South Beach Diet) tomorrow. I went out of town over Memorial Day weekend and was not very good at choosing my food. So, in order to get all that junk back out of my system I am going back to the dreaded Phase 1. Wish me luck!

Bye for now!

What happened to my diet???

The last few days I haven't been doing that well. I made a cake for a girls birthday at work. You have to cut the top of it off to make it even... well that is my favorite part of the cake. I gave in. I am so disappointed in myself! Oh well, what can I do, but be better starting now! I am working out 3-4 times a week. I am going to strive to go at least 6 times a week. Wish me luck! I really hate going to the gym, but you know once I get there I'm good. It is a stress reliever. I guess all those people out there that actually work out know this... But I have to say that when I'm at the gym I want to put my headphones on and zone out. I don't want to talk or even think about anything. That is my time ya know... We are going to New Braunsfels in 2 weeks. I have 2 whole weeks to get back on track because I will be completely off my diet during that week end. So worth it though.

More later...

TGIF and now it's Saturday!

I had a busy day on Friday, but very eventful. Woke up late, got to work late. By the way, that is a common thing. Luckily, I have the coolest boss ever, so he lets it slide. Then I get a phone call from one of my dear friends. It's DRAMA! Of course it is. I hate drama, so I guess people think I don't have enough from everyday life and want to add to it. This girl that moved to California like 10 years ago, yes a decade, decided to start crap with my friend, my husband and myself. You know she added me as a friend on Facebook, just long enough to take a look at my page and then delete me. That tells you what kind of person she it. I let myself get all upset about the situation and so I lowered myself to her standards and responded. I know, now that I am over it I am thinking... why did I do that!!!! Oh well, moving on.

So every year my friends and I go to New Braunsfels. We float down the river, it is so much fun to leave the kids at home and have some adult time. I think it is just as good for the kids as it is us. Most of the girls met last night to discuss the food for 19 people. WOW that is going to be a lot of food. But we are going to eat good! Then, a few of us decided to go see a movie. We saw The Ghost of Girlfriends Past. It was really good! I didn't get home until almost 12:30, but we had a good time.

Today, I have a cake order. So that is what I will be doing for most of the day. Baking and decorating. Part of me loves it and part of me hates it. I love it when it's for fun. When it is a paid job, I get all stressed out and feel like I have to do it. Well, it's paid so I guess I do have to. Anyway, it is a two tier baby shower cake. When I'm done I'll be sure to post some pictures.

So about my weight loss, so far I have only lost .5 pound this week. That is a little depressing. I went and worked out today. I did weights on legs and did cardio. I despise working out! But I keep this off when I was young by working out. Why did I ever think that stopping the working out wouldn't put the weight back on?

Trying something new...

I am new at this so I make no promises. I am going through some personal changes, so that is why I thought I would just write. I was going to start a journal, but I just type faster.

I just turned 30, I can't believe it but I did. I am happily married for 10 years. I met Dustin at 15, and I knew that he was the one. Don't get me wrong we definetly had our downs. Broke up a few times always fighting, but somehow we stuck through it and I think we have a pretty great marriage. I have a 4 year old son, Aidan. Wow, I had one friend... yes one that told me it is 1o times harder than you think it is. Boy was she right! He is my angel and my monster. He was a surprise, but I can not even imagine my life without him.

I work full time at an Insurance Company. I am a Supervisor in the Claims Department. It is the most stressful job, but deep down I love it. I have to or I am just crazy for working as much as I do. It is a lot of work, but it is also rewarding. Also, on the side I decorate cakes. I don't know how good I am at it, but I do it. I have made some pretty amazing cakes but not without the help of some really amazing people.

So, what are these personal changes? A little about myself for those that don't know. I used to be in gymnastics. I was really good too. I got a full time job right out of school at an Insurance Company and sat on my butt for 9+ hours a day. Needless to say, my butt got really big. In October I joined a gym. Then in November I got a personal trainer. Great news right... Well if I hadn't wasted all that time between October to May. It really pisses me off that I didn't take advantage of every minute. Well I have a new goal. Forget about what I didn't do and focus on what I can do. I am on my 3rd week of the hardest diet I have ever been on. The South Beach Diet. There is only two words for this diet... IT SUCKS! However, I can say for the first time in my entire life I can not get a piece of that cake and not feel like I am missing out. I don't even want it anymore. But I do want those tortillas and chips! So far I have lost 13 pounds. That keeps me motivated. I have a great support system at work and home and of course that makes a world of difference. Okay, I'm done for now. But I'll be back...
